Ironically, reducing Malcolm X to an "evil man" is mainly the effect of media painting a monochrome picture of him. He was probably one of the smartest but also one of the most rigorous personalities in the black movement post WW2. He was extremely reflected and open in his criticism of other members of this movement, namely the nation of islam, and his view of violence must be seen in relation to his experiences in the USA of the late 1950s to the mid 60s. I'm not saying he's the Black Knight in a spotless shiny armour, but "evil man" is just wrong.
