The only reason any country can not have an army is if they are friends with a nation that does.
Entrusting your safety to someone else is not a smart move.
Well, let's face it... most NATO countries, if attacked, would end up relying on their stronger allies to defend themselves... so it kinda makes sense.
And what happens if the big dogs decide to leave NATO?
Those nations should be taking the time to build up and improve their own military and guard, relying entirely on others only means giving up national autonomy. And to be frank, that's pretty stupid.
They rely on NATO to protect them so they get a free ride

While I agree that Iceland has a lot of things going for it, the thing that all these "we should be like Iceland" posts miss is that their population is extremely low. I live in an average sized city for my country, which still isn't a whole lot of people, and we have more inhabitants than all of Iceland
