I'm in the uk and someone just told me they were booking a last minute holiday to florida.. They obviously don't understand the concept of a storm

It's an eerily calm time where you go out and see what damage has been done already. It's also one of the only really safe times to let pets out to use the bathroom

I think it'd be wise to invest in a water purifier or something like that
You can get rain water and purify it and it's ready to use for basic needs
Most of them don't need electricity or anything to operate also

Try to find a local shelter near you. Even if you don't have to evacuate from where you live they will have supplied and power to help you. Most local high schools will be open and checking people in before it hits
