Yeah, I have a similar friend who was a beautiful guy but was abused as a kid and murdered 3 prostitutes. Still a lovely dude but his brain was messed up from his past. Not all killers are horrible people personality wise, of course their actions are still unforgivable

Anyone can really surprise you. My moms dad was a terrible person. He never murdered anyone but his crimes were just as bad. Before he was arrested everyone loved him and couldn't think of one terrible quality. He was a family man, he was the neighborhood go to guy and everyones friend, he volunteered, worked for mountain rescue ect. Everyone was shocked the day he was arrested

He was a pedophile who had abused about half the kids in the neighborhood including 2 of his daughters.

Just because they're fucked doesn't mean they can't be nice. Even Hitler had a good laugh. Hitler was essentially just like everyone else when he stopped being in "dictator mode".

While I want to portray him as an inhuman monster but no, he was a human monster.

The simple fact of this is that people change over time. The most unforgivable of crimes can fade. If Hitler lived today for all we know he could feel horrible regarding what he'd done. The fact is nobody is beyond redemption but nobody is beyond evil either.

I just finished 8 years with some "old prisoners,"...some are guilty, some are not. Most were defending themselves from someone who was or had abused them for too long...it's sad really how the system who didn't protect them, protected their perpetrators. In the end...it's just a travesty for everyone involved. We need more efficient criminal investigations and laws that truly hold the real criminals accountable.
