To be fair, the people working in the building likely weren't Nazis. We always had meticulous records of everything and everyone, and when they invaded us, the nazis took advantage of it. The public record workerd were probably the same people who had been working there for years
Though, at the very least, they'd have to be cooperating in some way. Since they actually had the Jews register themselves with the local authorities "for their own safety".

True, though most people were of course too scared to go into the resistance, it was play along or die for them
How do you know his last words? I'm just wondering where this is from because I don't think it's likely that someone would have remembered or have even heard his last words.
If the way he died was clear, it makes his last words clearer. It's not like he died in a way that we aren't sure exactly how he died, and therefore we didn't know if his last words were for certain the last.
Before executions they usually ask if the person has any last words and they record them. There are websites full of them, some of them are kind of funny and some are a little creepy
