The Beatles, Zeppelin, Stones, Pink Floyd, GnR, Nirvana etc, were POP music in their time. That's what people mean when they say music nowadays sucks, the popular music is manufactured crap, shoved down our throats until we accept it as catchy. Yes there are truly talented musicians out there but it's not mainstream and it's really difficult to find for adults with full time jobs and kids and so on. It used to be turn on your favorite radio station and listen and us listeners decided who was good enough to get more airplay or not.
Now it's mass produced by the record companies, most pop songs are written by the same few people for all sorts of singers and then just played on repeat on majority of radio stations and elsewhere. Us listeners have little to no input on who makes it big these days, it's all predetermined before they even record the first single.
There are some interesting videos on YouTube explaining the fall of the mainstream music scene and it's really disheartening.
They are terrifically creative with their lyrics and beats. Awesome.
Hollywood eyes wide shut party
