GF goals right there, as long as she doesn't mind my having one room for my computer, books, maps and bulletin boards with my notes.

God this post felt endless.

That cleaning made me cringe

These sound like feel-good advice but are mostly really terrible. You do need to be responsible, not to put things off just to feel good, not to make a mess & leave hair all over the bath. That's just gross.

As long as you know there's an appropriate time and place for that stuff, rock on with your bad self.

But, a tidier place is more relaxing...
