Consitering she was probably found guilty of lying to an officer, filing false statement and jailed for 16 months... I'd say its highly unlikely.
But then again, this was in the UK so I don't know. In the U.S., it would be a definitive no and make it rather difficult to find a job for the next sevenish years.

Your everyday citizen aught to know that false statements and lying to officers is bad, but this is compounded by the fact she was a damned criminology student. She was actively taught that this is illegal and about the miriad of repercussions it carries.
Usually with things like these the stories have holes in them and the person ends up admitting they we're lying/no one believes them since their stories end up not matching up, that or the driver had a camera
