The earth is flat but it's up on its edge like a coin and God periodically flicks it to make it spin which is why it appears to be a sphere from space. It's an optical illusion.

The sun rotates around the pole. When the sun is overhead, it's day. When the sun is not overhead, it's night. That's the explanation, anyway. That seems to contradict much of the evidence for the earth being flat, though.
