Funny you mention that, yes I did.
The joke part of this was "are you going to join us," my buddy actually helped me cook.
I'd been wanting to cook for them for a little while, but didn't really know my way around a kitchen that well yet. So, on a day where the family was kinda busy with a lot of coming and going... no time for a "sit down," I cooked a colossal pot of spicy beef cavatappi. Something you could grab a bowl of really quick, chow down and be on your way.
It was almost kinda "Tex-Mex" becasue I substituted some of the traditional sauce with salsa and added I think about an entire bottle of Tobasco.
His (100% I think) Italian mom said, "not bad" when she tried it. High praise for me coming from her because besides being Italian, she was also an incredible cook.
(Yes, I grow some plants and make my friend adopt it and call it his son)
