Funnily enough, the reason we call it football, is not to piss Europeans off. An American football is almost one foot in length, (11 inches for exact measurements) ergo "football".

That is not so. At a time when most sports were played on horseback, the term "football" was originally used to describe games that were played on foot.

And then Europe decided to egg on us for calling it "football" because we don't purely kick the ball around the pitch.
