Because it's about the amount different between the bust and the underbust, not how big the boob itself is. If you got extra in the back area it'll still contribute to the letter, but the boobs will be different sizes. That's why you're supposed to try them on.

I thought that was the number(I.E. width as in 36 D or 36 B....Not the cup size. )I mean perhaps @Dr_Richard_Ew could explain my confusion.

@Dr_Richard_ew Granted. But 36 inches is 36 inches correct. I assume you will agree. So a 36B is not a 36D. But apparently a 34C is actually a 36B. So I say they are all witches. So if they weigh the same as a duck they are made of wood.
