Depends on the type of crash. Some crashes can take hours before hitting the ground, so yea, you might.

Give a parachute to each adult and strap a child to them.

The younger children would likely die from the whiplash. It would be best to leave behind any under the age of six or so so as to prevent unnecessary risk to the others.
