Sometimes, lots of times, things aren't meant to be
You can be as kind as you want, as caring and loving as you can, but to them, it's still not enough or maybe they just don't feel the same
And you know what else is bad
To you, it maybe a very unhappy ending, but to them, it's fine
Cause some people's happiness is some other's unhappiness
It's all about choices. You gonna choose what makes you happy or what makes them happy? Gonna get called selfish or dumb
Neither seems to go right but you have to take either
The first edition of one of my books will essentially have that as an epilogue. In fact, it goes like this:
Epilogue?
Life doesn't give you one most of the time.
The best we can do is learn from the past, grow and trust that we'll be able to make better decisions when we are faced with adversity again.
...but sometimes fate conspires agains us, karma pays a visit or just plain dumb bad luck strikes and there's not a damned thing we can do about it. Despite our best intentions and efforts, things are destined to fail again.
We can only trust that the lessons learned from our past will help it hurt less in the future.
**
But that's just a draft. It may change... depending on how much pressure a publisher puts on me to give them the "real" epilogue.
