If it's a body of water in Florida it's probably got alligators and would be stupid to think otherwise. However, not everyone grew up in Florida and they may not be familiar with the wildlife. Gators will attack and eat small children if they can, though they prefer dogs if they can get them. You're also never really more than a 10 min walk from a body of water in Florida and gators will travel from one to another if there is no food.
