Bullet proof glass still cracks when a bullet hits it. But it doesn't shatter or let the bullet go through. Any sort of glass isn't going to be as durable as plastic or some type of polymer, which is flexible and better at handling shock.
No such thing as "bullet proof." There is balisticlly rated glass and their ratings are based on the caliber and velocity of rounds they will likely stop as well as how many.
They vary greatly in thickness as well, but your garden variety glass that will resist several rounds of common caliber small arms fire at relatively close range is about two inches thick.
There's glass out there that behaves similarly to steel so for example if you have a .1 mm thick plane of glass and smash it with a hammer it'll be dented instead of shattering. Its also somewhat flexible and cheaper definitely a better alternative to glass they use on phones but they're designed to break so they can get more money out of people. Honestly though I'm pretty sure even plastic would be a better alternative to the shit they use for phones
Apple is all about the money so I'm not surprised
