Well just saying "more pics" is a bit rude, he also should ask if they are still selling if too. He doesn't have to ask them their life story or be overly courteous but he could have just said "Is the car still for sale, and if so could i get a few more pictures of it?"
I had the same issue with a customer, i do graphic arts and send a standardised email for artwork approval, one lady said it was blunt and to the point, she stated that i didn't ask how her weekend was or anything.
So to prove what a waste of time it was, when she asked for changes, i emailed small talk, one question at a time a few hours in between replies. 4 days later she's getting desperate for updated artwork and called, I explained she was being unreasonable to ask for the artwork updated without providing small talk first.
