My only problem with the new It is that Pennywise looks horrifying from the start. Currywise looked mostly friendly with just a hint of scary while this new one looks like he lives in a tent made of skin.
I have a theory going that the new Pennywise is younger and less experienced than Currywise. I theorize that the new one has figured out how to prey and frighten the children, but is still learning on luring them in with trust. Currywise was arrogant and full of hubris: "I am eternal. I am the eater of worlds and of children!"
But this new one doesn't really play on his mysticality aspect, plus the turtle is never mentioned.

Stranger Things is soo full of little hints and clues and references to classic horror movies, it's great on many levels. The Duffer Bros are true fans and geeks.
But this new one doesn't really play on his mysticality aspect, plus the turtle is never mentioned.
