And you can be manly while caring for your family and friends. Men are supposed to be the emotional rock, not showing deepest feelings unless in their own privacy, and if shown in company of even their wives are seen as weak unfit to lead the house.
The emotional rock thing is the problem. People aren't rocks. They aren't rooted to the ground in such a way that you can lean as many things as you want on them. People end up tipping over.
I honestly don't care what most people think. I have my friends who i care for. If you think that you're all that and a bucket turkey well i don't care. If you just are mean to be mean, i won't pass you a second glance.

But if you don't give a fuck about your health, your people (family, friends, partners), the environment, you're an ass
.
The same to the bottom line
It all depends
