It's kinda like blocking someone. You're ignoring them, so you stop them from talking to you. I can imagine that the Nazi Party would have loved to have someone like Einstein helping them create new weapons, so they probably nagged him to hell and back about it.
Dude... the establishment german scientific community (most of whom became SS members) went after him and ridiculed him for a good 6-7 years... they assassinated his mentor and tried to systematically purge every jewish scientist from their academies. Einstein was the last person they wanted in their ranks. For awhile he was even shunned by the US. Heisenberg, Madame Curie and like 2 other colleagues from his college days were among the few who didn't totally denounce him.
He was hated for A LONG TIME until he proved that space-time could be curved by closely examining an eclipse.... up until then theoretical physics had pretty much no place and was considered a bunch of malarkey.
Meh. I don't recall him ever being hated, but I know he was never particularly liked before his space-time shit. Also, note that I never said they were nagging him in a good way. They would have absolutely loved to have someone like Einstein - but note I said LIKE Einstein meaning not Einstein himself, but instead someone similar. I should probably stop expecting people to understand the subtleties of language.
Nope, not even "like" Einstein. Heisenberg was the closest they had, and he purposefully delayed the atomic research of the Nazi's for years. Honestly, if their science division wasn't so... well.. Nazish about adhering to already proven physics they would have developed the A-bomb 5 years earlier and taken over the world. I guess you can argue they could want what they didn't know they wanted, but like I said, at the time they had a problem with theoretical physics and didn't WANT that. Pot calling the kettle black with that subtleties of language there.
Anyway, if you get a chance to check it out, watch "Genius" on Nat Geo. The first season is about Einstein and it's amazingly well crafted. The next season is going to be on Picasso, and I'm stoked.
