Good, I couldn’t stand people applauded only for getting a little wet. My grandfather died of ALS, so it makes me a little happier to see this.

I love that he donated but not everyone has the money to do so. The challenge is silly but it was started to help raise awareness for the disease. At least, I thought that was the intent.

That was the intent and it worked. The ALS went from being an unknown charity to one of the most popular because of that challenge. Some people did donate but others spread the message through the challenge. However you want to measure it, by raising awareness or cash, the campaign was a success.
