Maybe the lesson here is to recognize that people communicate differently and we shouldn't jump to conclusions?

I've wondered this a few time with my mum, I often have to remind myself that she's not taking the piss when she's texting me and I find my style of text is different when I'm texting her because I know she interprets them differently.

the mother is right about exclamation points... I find them obnoxious as hell 99.99% of the time. Anyway, this is why I prefer to call people.

Both are wrong though. Use a comma instead or either a dash or ellipsis in those examples.

A semicolon actually. A comma isn't meant to be used between two independent clauses, although people often do so. In the text "That sounds great where are we meeting," you could put a period after "That sounds great." Because it could be a period, it can't be a comma. It has to be a semicolon,

Yes! I'm so glad this is a common thing, because it's always confused me when my parents did that, and I never really looked into it but this makes a lot of sense.
