They use to look for girls with wide hips because they believed the girl could have more kids easily and had a higher chance of surviving seeing as they didnt have c-sections were both the mom and baby lived. Atleast not till 1794 and still there was a risk.

There is still a risk today. There is still a significant change of dying during childbirth even with modern technology. It's definitely much better than it used to be, but most people seem to forget this.

Exactly I myself almost died our daughter with me. They gave me an emergency c-section which means belly button down. Unlike the normal way which is left to right. They said if she was in me a moment longer we both would of died.

I remember a long time ago there was a post about some sort of survey for women who havent given birth yet and they asked what their first response would be. Most of them asked what gender it was, others whether they could hold it and none of them gave the response they were looking for untill one of them finally asked "is the baby alive?" Or something like that and the whole room got tense, all except for the nurse who was gleaming at her response cause so many people take it for granted and expect the pregnancy to go fine so never once do they suspect that there can still be complications in child labor

I didnt even know I or my baby might die till the next day. I was out of it due to being put to sleep. But first thing I said after the c-section was where is my baby? Second is tell my husband I love him. Third was I am cold lol
