There is probably something in their head causing the to eat too much. Maybe as a kid food was used as a reward instead of praise. Maybe food was a way to keep the child quiet instead of dealing with him. Maybe as an adult the child grew up associating food with feeling better. Maybe as a result the persons self esteem sunk so low that he wondered why bother going to a gym. Maybe he was laughed out of a gym. Maybe he got so used to being the butt of the jokes he started making them himself. Maybe the only attention he got was being that joke.
Nah...
Surely it must be because he is a lazy slob.

I'm tall and shirts don't get longer they get wider so that why I wear overly large shirts
I wear 3x for comfort, I'm more of a 2x guy but I don't like the way it feels. I like things to be nice and airy. As for why I don't work out and be healthy. Well, that means I'll live longer and I don't want that. The sooner I get beamed up, the better.
They probably eat more because they feel depressed regarding their weight.

I wear a 2XL, because I'm really short and my fat just squishes together so it makes me look a lot larger than I would be than if I was, say, about 5'5. (I am 5'1.) But I don't eat a lot. :/
Well, what generally happens is that you just don't notice it. The change is pretty slow, so you just ignore it. In my case, I just switched to a larger size but did know somewhere deep in the back of my head that something is wrong with my body. The wake-up call came when my mother saw me 17 months later and freaked out.
For me my clothes stretched with me and I didn't notice I had gained weight until I visible saw the rolls. Now I'm trying to do something about it and gained a lot of support from my family. Sure eatung differently is tough but the excercise actually feels good. I sleep so well now compared to before.
My uncle is 6’6 and about 120kg he’d probably wear something that size though
