There is no such thing as 100% pure cocaine. Way most blow is produced in underground jungle labs, and the bricks they pack there are at best in an area of 85-90%, but more likely to be around 80%, the rest being production residues. Producing it cleaner would push the efforts (and costs) extremely up. Only in a very sophisticated laboratory you can reach above 90, more that 95-97% is technically pretty much impossible to produce at all. So when the police mentions 100% purity, it means it's uncut from the vessel, so that would be in the 80% area. This is usually stuff that was washed ashore and is brought into the market by amateurs who don't cut or cut only once from unpacking the brick to filling the ziplock. On the street you'll find between 20 and 40%, so the "pure" stuff's still 2 to 4 times stronger.
Yeah, in the same way I'd rather shoot myself in the leg than in the head
Both are still stupid to do

I can assure you that no popular drug feels anything like getting shot. Also, most users of alcohol, cannabis and even cocaine just enjoy themselves and don't hurt themselves in any way. Of course, with millions of users, thousands will encounter problems that need to be addressed. Generally demonizing something that natural and popular is not helpful, it'd be potentially debasing useful and rational recommendations and warnings in that area.
