I'm not sure what the problem is. They asked if they could bring their own veggie burgers. If anything, that's quite polite. Just because someone has a dietary restriction, whether it's for moral, personal or health reasons, you shouldn't be a dick to them.

The person who is doing the cookout is going to have to go out of his way to bring an extra grill because obviously the main one is going to be covered in meat. It causes an inconvience for the cook and he just doesn't want to deal with all that just for one person.
