Can we bring back opening doors for people because it’s the polite thing to do? Guy or girl if you’re going through a door don’t shut it in their face???
I think this stopped because some saw it as sexist and made some noise about it.
Then the men who were the sort who were inclined to make these overtures stopped because It was now seen as not the right thing to do.
My suggestion is when these sorts of traditions seem to have fallen out of favor, take a long look at the modern social landscape. It seems to me that when certain antiquated "traditions" fall out of favor that need to, a few that some still think of as desireable will too out of necessity.
For the lack of a better description, call it the growing pains of social evolution.
