Many plants including flowers are edible. Why do you eat lettuce instea of a flower? Livestock and pets serve different purposes just as do a flower garden and a vegetable garden. All these things are alive and want to stay that way. A plant clings to life as tenaciously as a mammal, and br being able to understand its intelligence doesn't mean something isn't intelligent. So maybe you like the taste, or eating one over the other just somehow grosses you out. Maybe it's practical and each serves its own purpose. The "pets" vs "livestock" argument isn't a very good one.
People can eat edible flowers dishes as commonly in China as consuming vegetables. One reason for this is that in Europe, Lettuce is more vastly grown and sold at a lower price than edible flowers. Another reason for this is that the chefs here in Europe does not have the expertise to prepare the flower dishes, making it a rarity at an unaffordable price for the average citizen
Not sure of this is a fun fact or a rebuttal. As a fun fact it's interesting to have more specific info either way so thank you. Could you please clarify if this is meant to refute the logic above, or just sharing about flower dishes?
Ah. It was somewhat rhetorical, but thank you for the reply. I meant more that anyone could grow their own flowers, learn to cook them, and like many plant dishes they can often be plucked and eaten as is, they just may not be to taste or presented nicely. So similarly in America (and Europe) few chefs have expertise in preparing dog, and it is not widely commercially available. I was highlighting that it isn't a very well thought out question as some brief thought should supply the answers as to why.
Naah. Most of the Western World. It really depends on cultures. The Western Culture doesn't think dogs as something they can eat, on the other hand it is completely normal for Asians. It is abnormal to people who haven't been raised in those conditions.

And I love it.
