My head is telling me that for many versions of the character, he is able to turn into a bat and fly, not needing a jetpack. However, my heart is telling me that nobody should ever turn down a jetpack, so I'm in conflict.

Even if he could turn into a bat he would use a jetpack.

Transmutation requires a lot of energy. However, we're in 2018, there isn't as many virgins as there used to be, so Drac has to go on a severe diet and refrain from turning into bats. There you go.
