He plays tennis, he knows his dad. He’s the guy hoping for the next Serena Williams on the sidelines.

Ya a college student tennis athelete most likely came from a stable mom/dad home. Over 70% of blacks in America are born out of wedlock, but there’s still 30% who follow the successful formula. I’m sure the black kid talked some equally derogatory trash, but identity politics tells us that only members of certain groups are held responsible for their actions.

It's an asshole move, but not necessarily racist. Maybe he knew his opponent doesn't know his father. Which makes it even worse.

I have a classmate who beat up a guy the year below for calling him an “nigger”. He didn’t get suspended. I also have the same birthday as him

The insult is still based on a race stereotype. It's like telling a Chinese dude "At least my sister doesn't work in a sweatshop." or something like that. It can be a really shitty thing to say based on the context.

It makes me wonder if the black guy said anything first, and this was the lame comeback.

You're thinking of "equality," we've moved past that, to "Social Justice." We don't expect any reasonableness from protected groups, and only people from non-protected groups should ever be punished.
