It would have to be dying for it to be blown over. That thing must have been pushing 350 ft and it's base would have a diameter of around 20 ft. Standing amongst those trees is truly awe inspiring.
If it is a sequoia tree (redwoods in California) they have weak roots which leaves these giants vulnerable to storms/ developments/ forest fires which could lead to them falling over. But I agree! They are awe-inspiring to see irl.
sequoias are not the same as a redwood. Redwoods are pointy... more like a pine, sequoias are more rounded. yes, both have shallow roots; not shallow enough for wind to knock one over unless it is dying. A mudslide though? Totally different. Also... Either of those trees getting that big means it rooted itself in one of the few solid fucking places... that's why the true giants are few and far between.
and yeah... I had the opportunity to literally wake with the coast out on one side of my apt, and then the edge of the forest on the other.
I fucked it all up though.... because fucking things up is apparently what I do.
Then I was like "So someone killed a living thing that was older than Rome."
