Quick question, a lot of people don’t like Ayn Rand. I know some of her ideas were different, but I’ve never understood the level of hatred some people have. Why do you like/ not like her?
I like her because she championed individuality and freedom. I dislike her because she lacked empathy. If I could sum up her philosphy in one sentence it would be, “do whatever benefits yourself, and don’t care about how it effects others, because if everyone lives like that, it will benefit everyone in the long run.” I have mixed feelings about her because sometimes that philosophy works, and sometimes it doesn’t.
Ayn Rand was objectivist and considered anything that impeded the individual to be wrong and evil. Extreme by some standards, but she watched the Russian Empire get taken over by the Soviet Union, so I can hardly blame her.
Hell, I actually like some of her philosophy.
As if anyone ever found out. And I know enough about what she called objectivism top know that guys like you (two) have sympathy for her general direction. It's the religion of egotism, so as I said, I'm not surprised.
Religion of egotism? No. It's a philosophy that values the rights of the individual.
I respect that many have issues with individualism, ambition, and private ownership, but don't discredit yourself by misrepresenting her views.

It's the pseudo-philosophy of someone suffering from a (totally legit) trauma. The main criticism of calling objectivism (as per Ayn Rand) a philosophy is towards the lack of actual substance. It's mainly stating dictums on grounds of "because rationality" and if these dictums happen to serve your personal agenda, you call it a philosophy. Like D'uh. Some people call the Nunes Memo an actual investigation report. Philosophers referring to her have put some meat to the bones after her, I'd give you that if you had a clue.
