When Comey told Trump that, he wasn't lying. People under Trump were being investigated, but not Trump himself. Trump only came under investigation once Mueller was appointed, at which point Trump fired Comey and went on record at least twice alluding to the "Russia thing" being why he fired Comey and then LITERALLY tweeted that he fired Comey over the Russia investigation and THEN claimed that his lawyer typed that tweet for him.
There's a double standard here about posting political stuff if you haven't noticed. But if the posting originates from Twitter..its ok. FS has become Twitter for lazy people
Hey, I agree that stuff like his hair or what his wife is wearing or doing shouldn't be on the cover of all the papers. That's totally unimportant shit. But investigations are pretty serious matter and shouldn't be ignored. That said, real investigations like this are a different matter than the Democrats screaming "Russia Russia Russia!" over and over. We can't judge before we get more information but firing people who are investigating you is suspicious, to say the least.
Now I don't wanna play teams and do "whataboutism" but I must mention this, remember back when Hillary was being investigated and right wingers wouldn't shut up about it? Or how they wouldn't shut up about her tripping that one time, or how they made up the whole pizzagate scandal? That was way more annoying than this investigation.
We now know Russia attempted to hack into 22 states voter registrations, and succeeded in a few states. That's a fact. How is this a waste of time?
I'd also like to point out Trump's own lawyers don't trust him with an interview with Mueller out of fear he's going to lie, because they all know he can't help himself.
I mean... c'mon...
It's not just the seriousness, is that there is already a bunch of evidence that points in that direction, with multiple people already pleading guilty.
I mean... Say one day I claimed Russians blackmailed me into killing someone to save my family... that would be a baseless claim and from someone like myself, wouldn't be taken seriously at all. Now If I say Russians blackmailed me and I have recordings of the conversations and emails, it's suddenly not so insane to investigate that further, even if I made up the recordings and the emails.
Your example explicitly references falsified evidence. If that was the basis of the investigation, then the entire investigation and everything uncovered by it is illegitimate and inadmissible.
Yeah, but that's what the investigation would find out, meaning there would be a point to the investigation. If I just shouted baseless claims that are so beyond anything I could remotely prove, then they wouldn't even open an investigation. If I provided evidence, even if I originally falsified it, there would be an investigation and of course it would be proven that I falsified the evidence... the point is that there WOULD be an investigation and it would prove that it was all false. Now on the other hand, If it's all true and the investigation happens and I didn't falsify any of it, I might be lucky enough to get justice and go into witness protection.
My point is... the Russia investigation isn't people just shouting baseless claims. There is clear factual evidence of Russian attempts at undermining our election. That should be investigated and we need to correct whatever weaknesses they exposed in our system. If it leads to Trump, it leads to Trump, if it doesn't, it doesn't.
Even if Trump is innocent of any collusion, he still has to justify what is pretty clearly obstruction of justice. Even if he doesn't get charged... I just want to know why... Why the hell is he acting in the shadiest possible way one can act? Why not just admonish himself and work with Mueller to get this behind him if he's not guilty? Why throw everything he can to try and discredit Mueller? Why?
Just wanna know why my man.
But you falsified it. Legally, as of 1914, that invalidates the entire investigation. No matter what it finds, it will be considered false and inadmissible. Not to mention, you would face federal charges for that, and the person you tried to frame would be legally bulletproof.
I know! THAT is my point. The investigation would then find ME guilty. So either way, if either I'm found guilty of falsifying evidence, or if the investigation verifies that I was blackmailed, the investigation has done it's job.. by... *gasp*.. investigating!
This is why all this BS trying to discredit the investigation itself is fishy AF...
Also Nunes admitting last weekend that the politcal sources of the Steele dossier were known to the FISA courts, even though his memo was worded in such a way to make it look like that wasn't the case... I mean... that was just messed up. Just petty.
No, the investigation would not find you guilty, the investigation would be scrapped, everything to do with it burned, and you would be brought in on separate charges.
How familiar with law are you?
Well he's clearly more familiar than you are
That's not how investigations work, there's always a punishment on someone as the outcome, they're just not as politicized as if the investigation proved something other than the main focus

Ever heard of ignoring the president and not making him the subject of every insult?
These guys haven't.

The only exceptions are the secret or illegal ones that are meant to avoid due process entirely.
