Well elephants don’t generally live in forests, and honestly sometimes zoos are good for the animals

Well... All animals were wild at one point, dogs weren't always domestic you know. That said it is cruel the conditions captive animals often face. The fact is for some animals there isn't much wild left, for others they are endangered and captivity preserves the species, and for many captivity is the best place for us to study and understand them. I certainly think that there should be stricter requirements for keeping captive animals. Ensuring they have the space and social support to thrive, being kept in something more like a preserve than an exhibit or cages. I think that keeping them primarily or only as spectacles so people can "see a real xyz" is passed off as "awareness" but is just showmanship- and we should keep captive animals to those who's captivity primarily serves a greater practical purpose and that purpose is put second to their care and above profit or showing them off.

where is this zoo because they're not a good zoo if they are separating elephant kids and parents, the children depend on the adults and if a zoo is separating them then I doubt it's a good zoo, you can't base your opinion of zoos on the worst ones possible.

I'm a zookeeper. First this picture is out context that particular elephant was never alone. Second it's not possible for an animal raised by humans to go live in the wild. Many of them are in zoos for that reason. I worked with 3 dolphins who were deaf and a sea lion who was blind. I worked with two parrots who couldn't fly. How are they supposed to survive? Or are you saying they deserve to die?
