I know an that sucks. I made over 180 DUI arrests, driving under the influence, & approx 120 of those were accident related. Only one of them the driver was under the influence of marijuana. He only got into an accident cause he was T-boned by a drunk driver who ran a red light. When he got out of his vehicle it was like a Cheech an Chong movie. Smoke bellowed out everywhere. My sergeant smelled it an said I had to make an arrest. I told him he was the victim. But my sergeant said if he wouldn’t have been on the road, he wouldn’t have gotten in an accident. I felt bad to do it. But I did take care of him in court by gettin the charges dropped if he went to a driving course. Which he did. A drunk driver will run a red light an think nothing of it. Someone stoned will stop at a stop sign an wait for it to turn green. I’m not sayin smoking while driving is ok. But I seen them being overly careful instead of balls to the wall an not caring
But it doesn't mean they don't form any danger on the road. Fact is if you either used some sort of drugs or alcohol you shouldn't be driving

In general, the more a survey studied actual driving in actual cars on actual roads, the less significant impairment were observed. Effects comparable to a BAC of ,05 could only be reported with doses much higher than preferred by a normal user. The more abstract a study, the greater the impairment found. @liquide is definitely not the only highway cop who has observed the main difference between drunk and baked drivers, "the key differences between alcohol and marijuana intoxicated drivers: alcohol impaired driving performance, but drivers did not perceive it—marijuana did not impair driving performance, but subjects thought it had. Marijuana related impairment was disproportionately higher in psychomotor testing than in real world performance." (from the linked source)
Fun Fact: Cocaine hydrolyzes in the presence of humidity to produce methyl benzoate, which is what drug sniffing dogs are trained to actually detect.
Further Fun Fact: Methyl benzoate can be easily and cheaply purchased from perfumery suppliers, or synthesized in one step from common materials.
