It happens in humans... if anything is fake it's the 23 years. When it happens in humans they need a mouth guard so they don't chew off their tongues or gums while they sleep and usually need a wheel chair by the time they are 6 because they constantly break their own feet and legs (imagine never knowing when you stubbed a toe and never learning... then multiply it by 10 because you never register the pain so you never pull away... you just go full force every freaking time, oblivious).

So many people don't realise just how awful it would be to not feel pain. Almost every kid when they're younger put their hand on a barbeque or stove and recoil immediately, and learn never to touch it again, but people who don't feel pain can literally cook their entire hand like a beef patty and just not notice if they aren't paying attention, or as a little kid you might be curious as to why your hand is turning this weird black colour. It's a genuinely awful condition.

I can’t feel my legs below the knee, and once my special walking boots rubbed all the skin off my foot and I didn’t notice
