It takes time for a shitty economy to recover from all the damage done over the last 8+ years bone heads. Paychecks will increase when sales do. Sales will increase when paychecks do. Not quite a catch 22 but the complicated economic engine is slow to start but will roll like a freight train once it gets going. And before you start regurgitating all the mindless bumper sticker slogans about the evil greedy rich think about this: just how many people do you think poor people hire every year? You want money? It's gotta come from someone that has it!
That sounds about right. Get a raise, great. Oh- but your medical is more now, and has went up. Also it's $10 fucking dollars for McDonald's now, and those $220k houses you've been saving for on the bad side of town are going for $700k now. Enjoy the extra $300 a check before expenses though.
Yep. And my property taxes have climbed 40% in the last ten years. Now paying over $500/month for the privilege of owning a home in the state with the second highest income tax. Friggin NY.
I'm sure you're right. Probably a good thing no one mentioned Trump then? You might want to sit down for this as it sounds like it might come as a shock: A very large percentage of Americas wealthy are old, white, and have amassed money through inheritance and real estate while using loopholes to keep their money. It's so common in fact, that if you look back through history raw land deals are kinda one of the major driving forces in history- especially on the list of people pissed off at shady things done by rich white people. So congratulations on being first to say Trump is part of that problem, but no one has said he is the sole cause, or even mentioned his name otherwise.
It's a catch all that was shorter than saying "manipulating their tax situation in ways that range from legal to illegal to leverage incentives intended for specific situations but being exploited by the letter of the rule but not the spirit."
If only laws were written in common language instead of legalese. The word loophole implies illegal activity even though that would be an oxymoron “In other news Richie Rich used (illegal activity) to legally defer his income tax payments until the project is completed”. I’ve seen good people pubically accused of “using loopholes” and suffering backlash from it even though their actions were all within the law. A big problem in the US today is cynicism born of our broadcast media and nourished by these words and phrases used in everyday reporting that are designed to drive a wedge between people.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm late for my protest against sexism and racism.
