I wonder when it lost its appeal...when the thought of having to go outside and drive to a strip mall for 2 movies was wildly inefficient compared to just staying at home.
That's when it lost its appeal to us. When did it fade for a lifetime winner of free movies?
I mean I'm sure this poor schlub was overrun by relatives and friends asking to get the hookup of free rentals of the two vhs tape smash "titanic"
But they do still "owe" him the free rentals. There's just no way to,collect from a company that doesn't exist. The same with my pension at the company where I worked for 25 years. They went bankrupt, reconstituted under a slightly different name, and are in business again without owing any pension money to,people who had been promised one for years (including pulling the rug out from people already retired). How can you get money from a company that no longer exists?
I love movie rental stores, there are still a few in a town over from where I live. But man going there grabbing a movie, and probably a couple bags of popcorn, just absolutely makes my day.
