True... my mom got a well-paying job at 17 in 1974 without having set one foot in high school, I'm 20, I have a master's degree and I took back studies in another branch because I couldn't find a job. Ridiculous.
I understand your doubts and here are the answers : I finished high school at 14, masters at 19, took a year off to find a job, noticed I wasn't going anywhere, took back other studies this year. I'm this caricature of the shy girl with glasses who cut classes and was bullied etc, minus the success after school, yay me.
Hope you will find something you like, doing that pays well. But, if you majored in something that has no job prospects or very narrow appeal, then that's on you for not looking into it first. Don't major in modern dance, or art history of the French revolutionary period, or the anthropology of basket making, and expect potential employers to be banging down your door. Or don't major in petroleum engineering and be unwilling to,relocate to where all that particular niche is done.
You're absolutely right. I majored in palaeontology, which is not like medicine or law school but theoretically ok regarding job prospects. But the thing is, I met a friend there. I hold him dear, value his opinions and he changed my views on a few subjects: basically, I caught morals and don't want to work with petrol companies (you were close!). There are of course other aspects in palaeontology but our teachers didn't really do their jobs (they gave lectures but not useful names or adresses, even when we asked) and it's hard to find a PhD thesis (none in y country for the pas 2 years, I was 2nd choice for 3 subjects in the US and UK :/) or a job all by yourself.
But I have to say I'm pretty happy with the outcome so far, because 1) friend, 2) I grew as a person, 3) got a year of holidays :D, 4) realized something was off and paleontology was not really what I wanted, 5) have found a path that I want to pursue.
i work a full time job and a part time while working on my high school diploma and i still dont have enough to even own a shitty apartment in a safe area

A factory job is pretty much only good for yourself now.
Thank God my girlfriend and I hate kids.
