I live a desert and if you have cheap sandals or flipflops this definitely can happen. I've even had my sneakers start to melt after walking a while, though they just got tacky on the sole and didn't completely melt.
Can confirm. Dallas in August, asphalt + cheap sandals and standing still in a spot, with the pressure your body is exerting = melted sandal. It's partially why nearly all the roads here are grooved concrete.. nowhere near as smooth, but at least this doesn't happen.
Somebody lost their iob.
And NZ and Australia I’ve experienced melted jandels
