I agree. Incredibles was the only thing stopping Wall-E imo

Also how did Inside Out lose to A Bugs Life? Or Aladdin to Hercules? Or The Little Mermaid to Hercules? OR THE FUCKING NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS TO MULAN ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?
I mean, it’d probably be either Hercules or Aladdin, depending on whether magic affects gods and whether it’s the entire cast against the entire other cast, or just the main characters

I saw a Facebook post about this and I'll say what I said there, why is it weird that this person preferred Tangled over Lion King? Tangled is good and Lion King is not some shining perfect film. If it had been Frozen or Cars 2 I would see some contention but Tangled is a perfectly fun movie.
I say sweep away these "If it was made after 1999 I hate it" faglords before doing anything about 2000s babies.
I LOVE Tangled, its fun and well done, but it DOES NOT hold a candle to Lion King when it comes to storytelling and film quality. Lion King is a friggin Shakespearean drama set in the animal kingdom, filled with music and still enjoyed by both children and adults. When it comes to Disney, or animation period, Lion King is a bastion of excellence which other seek to measure up to.

See this is the kinda Lion King dick-fondling I'm talking about. People are so hard for that movie that they won't let anyone have a dissenting opinion.
By all means dissect the movie and give concrete analysis to why it's literally the best movie ever as long as you want but I still would watch Tangled over Lion King any day.

Lion King is objectively a better movie than Tangled. Take it from me, I don't really like either movie.
I never said it was the best movie ever, I said it was thematically one of the best Disney or animated movies. As for a deconstruction of why, there are plenty of essays that have been written about the subject. Personally my favorite Disney is a 3 way tie between Atlantis, Aladdin and Lilo and Stitch, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate Lion King.
But Little Mermaid had multiple sources and more or less stuck to the story except the happy ending. Hercules turned his arch enemy who tried killing him from the moment he was born into his loving devoted mother.
Again, it's DISNEY. My criteria for a good movie is:
Interesting protagonist
Action! I love excitement
Good music
Memorable-ness
I wasn't very impressed with the Little Mermaid (or Beauty and the Beast for that matter), but Hercules amazed me.
My kid was around 6 when Walley came out. When he was all pathetic looking in the trash compactor I just started to laugh a bit, couldn't help it, all the young kids were crying and my wife will still bring that up to me. She'll probably work that story into my eulogy.
