Ah yes. Darlington. The lady in black. A truly legendary challenge. It’s an oval- but one of the ends is smaller than the other. Pit crews are tested by having to set up for 2 radii of corners 2 times instead of 1 radius 4 times, and drivers are pushed to the limits of what a speed restricted stock car can handle as they must keep track of if the next turn is the big one or the slightly less big one with a different camber. Facing the odds of a 2 degree difference in radius and threading the needle through a track width only 1/10th the length of a football field, many a driver has “earned their stripes” on these stories grounds.
