Mil Mi-26. Russian Heavy lift. Second largest working helicopter ever produced and largest in service. Carries the record for heaviest lift at 2000ft with over 100,000lbs. Spec’d to carry 90 troops but over 140 people have been fit inside in flight and it’s carrying capacity is stated as 20 tons, but recovery missions over 25 tons have been successfully made. It’s tail rotor is larger than many standard rotary crafts main blades and many variants exist for duties like fire fighting or civilian use. All that (and more) and this bird was developed in the 1970’s. When the United States got some choppers stick up in the Afghan mountains they needed to rent one of these to get them out because the chinook couldn’t handle the job. One heck of a helicopter.
