Yes. He was accomplice in two home robberies. His friend (age 16) was shot and killed by the police. However, Alabama has an ‘accomplice liability’ law that made him culpable as though he were the perpetrator. He was charged with felony murder, robbery, and another charge and tried as an adult. I’m guessing he ‘probably’ turned down the plea deal thinking he’d be exonerated since he was only ‘peripherally’ involved. Probably not the wisest decision given Alabama’s history with African-Americans, but that’s just speculation.
Isn't that what got that one guy life in prison because a friend borrowing his car was involved in a murder ? Like the dude himself was asleep at home, but his friend used the car to go buy drugs that ended in murder ? So he's also being held accountable ?
Whaaat? He didn't kill anyone, it's "just" robberies! 25 was already way too long for that shit! Where I live you take max 20 years for rape/murder (theoretically you're sentenced to life in prison but it's never whole life)
He was charged with murder too. So far as I'm concerned, the only acceptable punishment for rape or murder is execution.
Also, longer sentences are only given if convicted of multiple crimes, or the crimes committed were especially terrible.
But as I understand this he didn't commit the murder, it was the police who killed his accomplice, right?
(btw I wasn't saying 20 years for rape/murder are ok, just wanted to make a comparison).
