why is the kid standing on a train track with a ball?
why did superman have to waste so much energy holding the train back instead of saving the kid?
why didn't superman just carry the kid instead of holding the train back?
why does that kid look like "oh i just realized there was a train there"
.

.
and most importantly
what the fuck is going on
The series use to crack me up as a kid. Superman would stand with his chest out while he was being shot , but he would duck when the crook ran out of ammo and threw the pistol at him.
Because if he sped in and grabbed the kid rather than hitting the train the same force that was transferred to the train when he hit it (causing the damage) would have been transferred to the kid when he made contact, killing him just as the train would have.
