I come from a Fijian/Indian family and my mum has told me that if I am still single by 25, she will organise an arranged marriage for me (unless I become a doctor).
Hmmmm, well if it's wanted by both parties I have no problem, it's like a blind date but you can't leave that easily. I personally wouldn't want an arranged marriage (also an Indian btw ). Parents can try to set me up but that's as far as it goes (even that would be a lil awkward).

There are certain people who find arrange marriages appealing.
And as someone who have attended and witnessed a lot of arranged marriages, I can say for sure that, the state of arranged marriages is improving. There are still Assholes who treat it like a business deal but then again, there are exceptions everywhere.
And as @la said earlier. It on indeed, like a blind date. But the only difference being, you need to decide in that one date that, if you want to marry that person.(Cancellations can be done later)
And to me, Both, love and arranged marriages appeal at a certain level. They both are romantic in their own way and sometimes you can do better selection of partner in arranged marriages than you can do in love marriages.
We do sorta arranged marriage here in Vietnam
Families who find their offsprings are suitable for each other (financially mostly) will introduce the guy and girl to each other
And suggest them to get to go together
To please their parents, they'll at least try to hi on a few dates
If they find (its not necessarily to be love, Vietnamese don't love) the person pleasant enough to be with, they'll get married (usually after 6 months to a year)
It happens often here. Nothing forceful though so no worry
