Not actually. For a while they were buying oil from the US. it’s more complicated than this suggests.

Venezuelan oil production has been down, and most of their export oil goes straight to Russia and China to pay debts owed, so it’s unlikely The US would get involved lest it want to start a conflict with them. A combination of corruption and mismanagement timed with a huge drop in oil export prices to devastate their economy. That’s created a cycle of inflation and debt that makes it harder for Venezuela to produce oil for export. Domestically the people can buy fuel for dirt cheap (you an fill 8 SUV’s for the price of a lunch out) because of government subsidies and a controlled price on goods. The United States has been meddling in South American politics since pretty much its formation. The primary mechanism isn’t direct military action, but political action and clandestine operations such as destabilizing governments or training and supplying rebel with US leaning tendencies. I’ll just add that under socialism their only viable export is crude oil- which most of the GDP comes from
