"what if"??? There's countless physical phenomena we don't sense. The majority of electromagnetic radiation including most light frequencies, most subatomic particles, sound waves beyond our hearing capabilities, faint smells that dogs can pick up, there's tons we don't register!
What if we're not capable to build or even conceive a machine that register other aspects of the universe? There could be (and most certainly is) a whole other field of vibration existing parallel to our "reality" which we don't know how to sense, measure or translate into something comprehensible for humankind.
Angel-""Hey God, what about all this cool stuff that animals can see but the humans cant?"
God-"The Humans are gonna be insane enough as it is."
Jesus-"What do you mean?"
God-"Just wait and see...."
We can still sense colour in other ways, like if we were to go into the sun and go on two platforms. One is painted black, the other painted white, we would know one is a different colour because black absorbs more heat and would be warmer
