That females ventral fin is in terrible condition, looks like fin rot. They are beautiful fish though. The beginning's so cute. The male makes a spit/bubble nest when he's ready to mate. My betta makes them all the time, it's so funny watching him :) I want to get him a lady friend, but we don't have room for more fish
It’s a rare for a female betta to live past the mating in perfect fin condition, when the male sees a female betta, his first instinct is to attack the fish.
Really? I've never experienced that with my bettas.
I only had one mated pair though. I should have known that, haha, it's like that with most fish. If I remember correctly, it's not really attacking...the male harrasses the female until she produces and expels her eggs
