The vampires in my universe aren't necessarily hematophages, they don't really gain any nutrition by just drinking blood. They eat blood-rich organs like the liver, heart, and kidneys as well as cracking open bones with specialized molars to eat the bone marrow inside.

Do they get the heroin type high when they feed after a dry spell?

Actually no. There's something in human blood that makes them turn feral if they consume it too much, so they resort to eating animals such as rats, which decimated their population during the Black Death. This effect of them going crazy from consuming human flesh also gave rise to the legend of the Wendigo.

Dude period blood is perfectly sterile of course as soon as it is collected via pad it is no more but think about a menstrual cup, that’s perfectly sterile

Menstrual flow isn't blood its tissue. Not the same thing. Just cause it's red it doesn't make it blood. Blood is a very small part of it.

I love how you are trying to explain that to me, a 19 years old woman, however, if you want to know, it’s a mix of dead tissue decomposing and flowing away in liquid form. In this mix, the prodominant part is blood made thicker by fibers of the tissue and the coagulates blood of the before-mentioned layers
